Our Staff and Local Academy Board

We're proud of all the people that work hard to make Westbridge such a special school.

Alice Bridges (Acting Chair and Vice Chair) lives locally and has been a Local Academy Board Member at Westbridge since the School became an Academy. She has a background in business consulting and now has three young children and is a part time secondary teacher. She chairs the Finance Committee.

Rachel Tyrrell originally from Liverpool Rachel has lived in Wandsworth for more than 3 years. She has been a Local Academy Board Member at Westbridge since April 2014. Currently a civil servant at the Department for Education she is passionate about education. She is a member of the Finance Committee and is the Local Academy Board Member with responsibility for SEN and Inclusion.

Sara Milne joined as a Local Academy Board Member in December 2015 but has lived in Battersea for over 30 year and is Chair of The Battersea Society.  She is a PR Consultant working across a number of industry sectors and prior to a career in brand marketing was a Montessori teacher and learning difficulties teacher.

James McDonald became a Local Academy Board Member in 2015 is a member of the Finance Committee. He is a Chartered Secretary and has been working in accountancy roles for most of his career. He is currently managing the finances of a small school in Chelsea. He lived in Clapham for over 25 years and has since moved to Victoria.

Cannon Simon Butler is a Community Local Academy Board Member at Westbridge Primary School. A priest for over twenty years, Simon came to St Mary’s Battersea in 2011. Previously he has been a Vicar in both suburbia and in the inner-city. Prior to ordination he was a Naval Officer. He has been a member of the Church of England’s General Synod since 2005 and an Honorary Canon of Southwark Cathedral since 2006. His interests include classical music, opera and film. Simon is also a Trustee of the Katherine Low Settlement and chairs the Standards Committee at Westbridge.

Councillor Marie Hanson MBE became a Local Academy Board Member of the school in early 2015. Marie set up S.T.O.R.M (Support, Trust, Opportunity, Rebuilding and Motivation) to support both single parents and young people in the community, empowering them to reach their full potential. She continues to support the local community as a councillor for the Wandsworth Queenstown Ward. Marie sits on the school’s Standards Committee.

Matthew Glance has been a member of Westbridge’s Local Academy Board since Jan 2015, fulfilling the role of Parent Local Academy Board Member and is also on the Standards committee. Matthew currently has one child attending Westbridge and has been associated with the school since they started in reception.
