Our Staff and Local Academy Board
As Local Academy Board members (often referred to as ‘governors’), we are committed to building a love of learning amongst our pupils. We work hard to help all children in our school to achieve their full potential.
In summary, our role is to:
- Ensure a clear vision, ethos and strategy
- Hold school leaders to account to ensure every child has the best education possible
- Support the financial management of the school, making sure money is well spent
Our board is made up of a wide group of people who are all committed to Westbridge’s vision, ethos and values. We have all agreed to a Code of Conduct and work hard to fulfil our responsibilities. Our profiles below set out our backgrounds and areas of responsibility.
Carina Saner (Chair) – Carina became a Local Academy Board Member at Westbridge in December 2018 and was appointed as Chair in June 2019. She is committed to enabling every child to achieve their full potential and works as a management consultant with a special interest in the Education sector. She was involved in setting up a charity which develops senior leaders in schools and has significant leadership development experience. Carina has lived in the London Borough of Wandsworth for over ten years and has three young children.
Rachel Tyrrell (Vice Chair) – originally from Liverpool, Rachel has lived in Wandsworth for more than 6 years. She has been a Local Academy Board Member at Westbridge since April 2014. A civil servant who has worked at the Department for Education, she is passionate about education. She has lead responsibility for SEND and Ethos & Culture.
Sara Milne – Sara joined Westbridge as a Local Academy Board Member in December 2015. She has lived in Battersea for over 30 years and is Chair of The Battersea Society. She is a PR Consultant working across a number of industry sectors and prior to a career in brand marketing she was a Montessori teacher and learning difficulties teacher. Sara has lead responsibility for Safeguarding.
Rachael Tambis – Rachael has been a Local Academy Board Member since December 2018. She is an IT External Audit Manager and is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Information Systems Auditor and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control. She is passionate in helping institutions achieve their vision, and ensuring there is proper accountability and reporting with integrity. Rachael has joint lead responsibility for Finance, Fundraising & Risk (with Emma Bunting) and is also responsible for Premises and Health & Safety.
Emma Bunting – Emma joined the Local Academy Board in July 2019 and has lived in Wandsworth for 14 years. She is a qualified accountant and works as a financial consultant. She is a Director of an Educational Trust. Emma is committed to the educational proposition for every child to achieve the best outcome. Emma has joint lead responsibility for Finance, Fundraising & Risk (with Rachael Tambis).
Oliver Williams – Oliver became a Local Academy Board Member in July 2019. He has a varied background in the technology sector, at leading management consultancy, McKinsey & Company, and as an officer in the Royal Navy where he nurtured his passion for education by tutoring sailors on GCSE Maths. He is passionate about giving all children the opportunity to have the best possible educational start in life and has lived in the local area since 2012. Oliver has lead responsibility for School Improvement, Pupil Progress and Curriculum.
Vicky Harrison (parent governor) – Vicky Harrison has always lived in London Borough of Wandsworth but in Battersea for 15 years. She joined the Local Academy Board in July 2019 as she wanted to give back to the school community. Vicky has two daughters who have attended Westbridge since September 2011 and January 2014.
The Clerk to the Local Academy Board is Michael Bowen.

We regularly attend school events such as coffee mornings, school fairs and performances and enjoy meeting parents and pupils at these events.
