Last half term, Year 1 pupils have learnt all about Everyday Materials in Science.
To consolidate our learning we were fortunate enough to attend a work shop at the Science Museum. The workshop was called ‘The Three Little Pigs’.
The children had to help the three little pigs find the best materials to build a safe, strong house that the Big Bad Wolf couldn’t blow down.
They were able to classify the materials and think about their properties using fantastic scientific language such as: strong, bendy, light and heavy. It was a fun and engaging session and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
On our way home it was wonderful to hear the children spotting everyday materials from the top deck of the bus and as George said, “It’s the best day ever!” I couldn’t agree more George!
Have a look around you; what everyday materials can you see right now?
